The New England Patriots announced on Tuesday that they have signed running back Dion Lewis to a one-year contract.
Lewis, who was previously signed to a contract by the Dallas Cowboys, is the first running back signed by the Patriots since Chris Johnson signed with the team last season.
Lewis will wear No. 44.
Lewis has started two games this season and has rushed for more than 100 yards in each of them.
He also scored his first career touchdown.
He started eight games for the Dolphins last season and rushed for 2,054 yards.
Lewis’ signing is the second of the offseason.
Former Cowboys running back Darren McFadden was released by the team on July 1.
He was the backup to McFadden and was signed to the practice squad the next day.
