The NBA is the most watched sport in the world, and it continues to be the most lucrative and the most exciting to watch.
But it also seems to be a little bit behind in the ratings war.
According to a recent Nielsen report, the league has been down on the ratings, down about a quarter since last year.
And it’s not even close.
According to SportsBusiness Journal, in the past year, the Nielsen ratings have fallen from an average of 2.4 million viewers per game in 2016 to just over 1 million viewers last season.
And those numbers are just for the most part down from the 2016 season.
Here’s the story.
There were plenty of factors at play in the NBA’s ratings slump.
The NBA was facing a lockout, the first since 2004, that was supposed to affect the NBA season.
But the lockout lasted less than a week and the lockout didn’t affect the ratings much at all.
It’s unclear why the ratings haven’t improved much over the past few years.
It could be that fans have gotten bored of the league and its competitors.
Or it could be just that people are watching the game for the first time in years.
And the lockout may not be the only factor.
The league’s contracts with the players were in place before the lockout.
If the league doesn’t have a deal to keep players, and the players are unhappy with their deals, the ratings could be lower.
And if the ratings don’t improve much, that could affect how much teams get paid.
But for now, at least, the leagues ratings are in good shape.
According for the 2017-18 season, NBA TV had the highest average household rating of any network, which is a bit surprising given that ESPN averaged the highest household rating in the history of the NBA.
And according to Nielsen, the average viewership of NBA games last season was almost 20 million viewers.
According for the 2018 NBA season that same year, ESPN averaged a 1.7 rating among households in the 18-49 demographic, which would be down from 2.6 last season but up from 1.3 last year and 1.1 in 2016.
Nielsen ratings are usually released at the end of the season, but they can be released several weeks before that, so the full results may not show up for some time.
Still, the fact that the NBA continues to get good ratings in its prime season should give us hope.
And that’s a lot of people watching a game.
In addition to the ratings drop, the big news in the game of basketball has been the emergence of new streaming services.
And while we’re not exactly talking about NBA 2K14 and FIFA 18, there are plenty of other sports titles that have been able to gain some traction.
And ESPN has been an excellent broadcaster of these games, which helped the league to be at the top of the ratings list in its second season.
